Much Ado About Nothing Royal Shakespeare and Bollywood performance.

It was so good! It was very funny and the actors played their parts well. They used all the Shakespearian language, the setting was great. At first I did not think that Shakespeare and Bollywood could work but it did very well. It was entertaining. Possibly Hero was a bit louder and more confident than i imagined her. My favourite part of the play was when Benedick and Beatrice found out that they loved each other, when Benedick was swinging on the swing and being lovestruck, it was so funny  :D

  1. I agree. It was a great production. Has it made you reconsider Hero? Did you see any tragic elements in the production?

  2. I still think as Hero as the shy and innocent girl that I thought showed through whilst reading the play. The performance changed the idea that it wouldn't be so much of a shock for Hero to be unfaithful in a way because she was more confident around everyone, so the men also. The tragic elements in the play were still the wedding scene because of their sadness- Hero's and Beatrice's and the disgust of Leonato in the reaction to it.Overall the play was more comical in some places than I would have expected. As we said in class today Don John was not such a scary, villain character as he was funnier. In both reading and seeing the play however the serious parts of the play were shortly followed be more comical characters and parts such as Dogberry. The play was still brilliant even though of this !!! Their Indian take of the play was very original and entertaining because they brought their culture along, the dancing and vibrant decorations and clothing. I liked the idea of the ball at the start when the men and women swapped clothing instead of wearing masks, it was an interesting twist.
